About Us

Adam Mowery - Managing Member

Adam started Mowery Environmental, LLC in January 2015 out of a recognition that agricultural operations, specifically mushroom farms, could use assistance in maintaining compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's (PA DEP) regulations. Previously, Adam was employed by the Chester County Conservation District for over 7 years.  During his time at the Conservation District, Adam worked with numerous mushroom farmers in designing and implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) to collect, store, and treat wastewater runoff from their operations.  He also wrote and reviewed Environmental Management Plans and managed various grant programs.  Adam received his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies from Bucknell University and his Master's Degree in Environmental Studies with a Concentration in Resource Management from the University of Pennsylvania.

Matthew Hood, P.E. - Project Engineer

Matt joined Mowery Environmental, LLC in 2021 after working for over 9 years to provide engineering consulting services in the agricultural sector.  As a project engineer, Matt works closely with clients to develop designs tailored to their needs and successfully navigate from planning to construction.  Living on a farm provides him with a unique approach and perspective into these engineering solutions and designs.  Matt holds a Master’s Degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware.  Matt is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland.

Kenan Ku - Conservation Technician

 Kenan graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science - Agroecology and is the newest hire at Mowery Environmental, LLC. He has worked on a dairy operation, a Pioneer Seed research farm, and The Student Farm at Penn State. Kenan’s recent education and connections with Penn State keeps him up to date with the latest Ag Science. Kenan plays a strong supporting role, helping the company accomplish agricultural planning and engineering tasks more quickly.

Liz Killian - Engineering Technician

   Liz graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelors in Earth Science & GIS. She started her career in engineering at the Lancaster County Conservation District. Growing up and working in Lancaster County, Liz understands the day-to-day tasks of farmers. Her time at the Conservation District bolstered her knowledge of agriculture as she worked hand-in-hand with farmers to provide technical assistance for various types of engineered projects such as grassed waterways, stream crossings, and manure stacking pads.

Mike Zuk - Senior Consultant

  Mike graduated from University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s degree in Plant and Soil Science. His first job after college at Synagro Technologies introduced him to the Agricultural sector where he became a Certified Nutrient Management Specialist in MD and DE. Many of those years were spent soil sampling and developing NMPs for grain farmers in the Delmarva Peninsula. In the fall of 2012 Mike joined the Chester County Conservation District as the Act 38 Nutrient Management Specialist for several years before taking on the Mushroom Farm Resource Conservationist position. During this time Mike became a Level III Certified Conservation Planner and spent most of his time providing conservation planning and implementation assistance to mushroom farmers. In 2019 Mike moved to a new position as a Soil Conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) field team in Coatesville, PA. During his time there he had the opportunity to provide conservation assistance to dairy, beef, equine, vegetable, and urban farmers in Chester, Delaware, & Philadelphia counties. Mike also worked on forestry, wildlife, and pollinator conservation projects with private landowners and took on the role of Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP) specialist. After 13+ years in public service Mike is excited to join Mowery Environmental and continue working to support the needs of the ag industry and more.

International FOXP1 Foundation (IFF)

FOXP1 syndrome is a rare disease that is caused by a mutation or change to the FOXP1 gene.  The IFF is a non-profit organization committed to supporting those who have been impacted by a FOXP1 diagnosis and to establishing regular venues for fundraising in an effort to further research into FOXP1 syndrome and possible treatments.

Together for the Land

LFT's annual dinner in celebration of farmland protection. The event is attended by nearly 200 of LFT's most dedicated supporters. The evening also features "Acres for Auction", which raises the funds to preserve a farm in one night.
